Dr M Khalid Riaz is co-founder of The Human Development Foundation, and serves on the Board of Trustees, and as the Chairperson of the Human Development Foundation of Pakistan. He also served as Co-Chair of the Human Development Foundation of North America from 1997 – 2007. HDF has successfully implemented a holistic model of community driven development to achieve millennium development goals for over 2 million under-privileged people at the very extreme margins of survival in Pakistan. He has spoken around the world about the Human Development Model, including being a keynote speaker at the Word Congress of Philanthropists in Istanbul. He was recently recognized in a Georgetown University Publication as one of the 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World for his work in developing and nurturing this movement. Dr. Riaz is a practicing interventional cardiologist by profession, residing in Suburban Chicago area. He has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Cardiovascular Division at Sherman Hospital, Elgin, Illinois. He was recognized as one of the top cardiovascular physicians for women in a Castle Connolly survey of doctors and hospital medical leaders regarding ‘highly skilled exceptional doctors’. This achievement was highlighted in the 2011 ‘Top Doctors” issue of Chicago Magazine. In 1974 he helped organize the physicians in training at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and served as the first Vice President of the then newly formed House Staff Association of Cook County Hospital. This organization played a pioneering in the struggle for quality health care for the indigent population of Cook County, Illinois. He has also served as the President of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA). He is the recipient of multiple awards in recognition of his services to the community and his profession.

Lt. Gen (R) Abbasi is Vice-Chairman of the Board and Chair of its Executive Committee. He holds MSc (Defense & Strategic Studies) degree and has enjoyed a 36-year distinguished military career holding multiple senior appointments including Chief of Logistics Staff (CLS) and Commander XXX Corps. He was awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz Military (HiM)–the highest honor awarded to military officers by the Government of Pakistan. He served as Chief Executive and Managing Director of Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited (FFBL), a publicly listed major agri-business conglomerate producing more than 45% of DAP Fertilizer demand in the entire nation.
Dr. Atiya Khan holds MBBS degree and is a Fellow of the American College of Pediatrics (MD-FAAP). DABP (Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatrics) awarded her as one of the top pediatrician from 2012 every year till 2018. She is a practicing pediatrician in Columbia, Maryland. She serves as a faculty member at John Hopkins Hospital, Department of Pediatric Oncology. She is a founding member of HDF, Pakistan. She was involved with HDF Pakistan and HDF USA Boards at different positions since their inceptions. She stayed chair of HDF USA Board from 2010 to 2017. She has also been rendering her services as Member of Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA). She got many awards for HDF’s work from many organizations in USA. She got a total of 16 awards so far, the most important among them are “APPNA Gold Medal” and “Life Time Achievement Award”. She recently received another award from Governor of Maryland Larry Hogan for her Community Services. She completed many professional courses like business, psychology, Interior Decoration, Calligraphy, and some language courses.
Air Marshal (r) Riazuddin Shaikh is Chairman of Sindh Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) as well as Chairman of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program (BBSYDP). He is also member of Steering Committee, Benazir Housing scheme, Government of Sindh and Ex-member BOD, Pakistan Chemical and Energy Sector Skills Development Corporation (PCESSDC) Daharki – Aegis Engro Pakistan. His career achievements include his services as Deputy Chief of Air Staff, Air Officer Commanding PAF, Inspector and Deputy Inspector General PAF and the Base Commander PAF. He graduated in MSc War Studies from Ecole Militaire Paris, France in 1986.
Mr. Arshed Bhatti holds Master’s degree in Development Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science; and an MPhil & MSc in International Relations from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. He is a former civil servant who worked with Ministries of Finance, Economic Affairs, Environment, and Planning & Development Division from 1990-2005. He is an independent consultant, educationist, social worker, public policy expert, and a writer. He was a member of the Pakistan Education Task Force and has worked with many NGOs. He has designed numerous advocacy campaigns, and writes regularly in the major English newspapers of Pakistan. Arshad Bhatti is a published poet and an experienced public policy consultant. He ran Civil Junction, a Café that promoted dialogue, tolerance, music and art from 2002 to 2014. Mr. Bhatti has been associated with HDF as a Director since 2007, and has contributed to HDF's long term vision and strategies.
Maj Gen (R) Dr. Farrukh Seir holds degrees of MBBS, MSc in Health Administration, MBA (Project Management) and MS (HRD). He has had an illustrious career both within and outside the Pakistan Army. He served as Deputy Surgeon General in Pakistan Army before his retirement. He has been Director of Academics and Admissions and Dean of Faculty at Khyber Medical University Peshawar, as well as director of Postgraduate studies in Medical Institute Rawalpindi. He has remained Chief Executive of tertiary care teaching hospitals of Pakistan Army and member of Board of Studies Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. He also served as member of Executive Commission HEC, National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and member of Board of Governor of Sir Syed Academy for Special Education, Rawalpindi. Dr. Seir has more than 25 reports and publications to his name that he presented and published at national level institutions.
Mr. Faisal Riaz has done Masters in Industrial Psychology. He was the First Director at NileCo Global. He is a consultant and strategist, supporting government, international development and commercial client operations in the United States, Middle East, and Central & South Asia. Mr. Faisal Riaz has diversified experience of working with numerous global 1000 companies, financial institutions, family funds, non-profits, as well as the US Department of Defense in the areas of Strategy, Business Development, Program Management, and Project Development across 4 continents in environments ranging from cosmopolitan business hubs to some of the more remote and austere regions of the world.
Mr. Rizwan Shaukat holds B Sc. Electrical Engineering degree. He is a senior executive with strong leadership experience in strategy development and implementation, Mr. Shoukat brings a keen understanding of the corporate and the development world to the HDF BOD. He is a certified six sigma practitioner with over 20 years of experience. He possesses senior level knowledge in steering/directing large-scale projects, human resource development, project management and knowledge management processes. Risk mitigation and delivering best-fit business solutions is his forte. He has a proven track record in improving efficiencies, reducing costs, increasing revenues, and strategic initiation of new ventures. He has created telecom consulting practice for the emerging markets while winning business with world renowned network operators and creating clients for life. Mr. Rizwan Shoukat is a member of the BOD and also serves on its Executive Committee.
A graduate in Psychology and Philosophy, Ms. Tehmina Khawaja is a passionate social worker and seasoned development activist. Her passion to work for the betterment of the communities keeps her engaged at the grassroots level. She is part of a diverse network active on social issues in Pakistan. She has worked with women prisoners for their rights in the Adiyala Jail Rawalpindi. Recognizing her work, she had been appointed as a "Non-Official Visitor" for all Punjab Jails for one year by the Federal Govt. of Pakistan in 2009. Moved by her social context, Ms. Khawaja is dedicated to her social work aspiring to make a difference in the society. She has been working with children in the Islamabad SOS Village for the last three years. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Human Development. She is also doing her certificate in psychotherapy and counselling.
Mr. Azhar Saleem is a retired Colonel of the Pakistan Army. Holds BSc (Hons) Degree in War Studies and is also a graduate from the Pakistan Army’s premier institution; The Command and Staff College Quetta. During his 25 years of service in the Army he held important command, staff and instructional appointments including that of being a Term Commander in the Pakistan Military Academy. After seeking retirement from the Army, he served in the corporate sector for over six years and is now working in the development sector as a Chief Executive Officer of Human Development Foundation for the last over 15 years. During performance of his duties in various capacities of his professional life as well as private commitments he has traveled to over 15 countries of the world where he attended international conventions, seminars and meetings and also got the chance to study various systems of management and development, adding value to his professional acumen. He is also a recipient of a few awards and prizes for meritorious services and works in various fields.
