On 8th October 2005 at 8:50 am Pakistan Standard Time a magnitude Mw = 7.6 earthquake struck the Himalayan region of northern Pakistan and Kashmir. AJK was most gravely affected. On that unfortunate day, 75000 lives were lost and a large number of people became disabled for life.
Now in 2021, there are families still recuperating with their loved ones in disability in AJK. People are bound to their spaces unable to move, and dependent on their families. There are a large number of individuals waiting for wheelchairs, hoping to move on their own and open opportunities for themselves. On 15th commemoration of the devastating earthquake of 2005, HDF plans to restore the smiles of earthquake survivors in Azad Jammu Kashmir by providing them with wheelchairs.
