Qualifications: BA (Hons), MBA – IBA Karachi, Diploma – Knowledge Center for Agriculture Denmark, Fellow Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA)), International Leadership Training Program – U.S. Department of States and UN-ESCAP.

Mr. Mehboob ul Haq has served in the federal and provincial investment promotion agencies, where he integrated complex government mechanisms, right from inception to execution, for multiple private sector entrepreneurs to multi-national corporations.

In the last 10 years, he was leading and managing a state-of-the-art public sector fund – Sindh Enterprise Development Fund (SEDF). He developed partnership with WWF and co-launched Dutch Fund for Climate & Development (DFCD) worth 170 mn euros. In terms of innovation and systemization, he devised a transparent and sustainable mechanism disbursing SEDF financial assistance to approved agri-business SMEs across the province. He facilitated creation of first-ever, electronic platform for trading of agri-commodities at Pakistan Mercantile Exchange Limited and incubated agri-collateral manager ecosystem in Pakistan, which led to full-scale launch of first-ever collateral-based lending mechanism in the agricultural sector of Pakistan.

Mr. Mehboob developed an eco-system in the agri-business sector to improve access to finance by collaborating with the State Bank of Pakistan, Bank Alfalah, Meezan Bank, JS Bank, Al Baraka & Askari Commercial Bank. He also introduced farm-level mechanization in the rice cluster for 60-100% increase in yield and crop quality on sustainable commercial basis which has led to a reduced dependency on grant-based model. He designed the Innovation & Technology strategy for the province of Sindh with assistance of CERP and USAID to support tech based private sector initiatives. He partnered with Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) – hosted by UNIDO for promoting clean energy in agri projects. He facilitated UN-ITC GRASP project (size: euro 48 mn) for devising implementation strategy to support development of micro, small & medium size enterprises in livestock and horticulture clusters for growth, rural advancement and sustainable progress. He has also been an adjunct faculty member in IBA (Institute of Business Administration). Mr. Mehboob is a member of Rotary Club of Karachi and has served there as the Treasurer (2020 – 2022).
