From a Village Classroom to a Board Position-Holder Zara Fatima’s Journey from Adversity to Academic Excellence From losing her father at the age of two to securing 3rd position among female candidates in the BISE Bahawalpur Matriculation Examinations 2026, Zara Fatima’s journey is a powerful testament to resilience, a mother’s determination, and the transformative power of education. 3rd Position | 1,088 out of 1,200 Marks | Humanities Group | BISE Bahawalpur 2026 A Journey That Began with Adversity For Zara Fatima, education has always represented more than the pursuit of academic success. It has been a path toward a brighter future, sustained by her mother’s determination and a commitment to learning despite difficult circumstances. Zara belongs to Basti Habibullah in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab. Her father, Mr. Abdul Majeed, worked as a farmer on other people’s land to support his family. When he passed away while Zara was only two years old, her mother faced the enormous responsibility of raising her children amid significant financial challenges. With support from Zara’s uncle and an unwavering determination to fulfil her late husband’s wish of educating their children, she ensured that education remained a priority. Despite the family’s hardships, Zara continued to pursue her studies with dedication and discipline. Her story reflects the strength of a family that refused to let difficult circumstances determine a child’s future. From a Community School to a Brighter Future Zara’s educational journey began at the HDF Non-Formal Community School in Basti Habibullah, conveniently located near her home. After completing Grade 5, she progressed to Grade 6 at HDF Girls High School, Basti Khando. The transition required her to travel a greater distance to attend school, but her determination never wavered. With each passing year, she continued to build her knowledge, strengthen her abilities and demonstrate a growing commitment to academic excellence. For Zara, access to education was not a single opportunity; it was a continuous journey that required perseverance, family encouragement and the right support at every stage. Support That Kept Her Dreams Within Reach As Zara progressed through school, the financial demands of education presented another challenge for her family. Recognizing the importance of keeping promising students connected to learning, HDF provided support that helped ease this burden. Zara paid half of her monthly school fee through the middle level, while her fee was fully waived at the secondary level. She also received assistance through HDF’s Orphan Project, helping her continue her education despite her family’s financial difficulties. This combination of family commitment and educational support allowed Zara to remain focused on her studies and continue progressing toward her goals. Her academic potential became particularly evident in 2024, when she secured an outstanding 782 out of 800 marks in her middle school examinations. In recognition of her performance, she received the Dr. Abdus Salam Scholarship, providing further encouragement and support for her educational journey. Beyond the classroom, Zara actively participated in Sports Day, debate competitions and activities celebrating national and international days. These experiences helped her develop confidence, express herself and engage more fully in school life. A Moment of Triumph: Securing 3rd Position in BISE Bahawalpur Years of hard work, perseverance and consistent academic effort culminated in an exceptional achievement in 2026. In the Matriculation Examinations conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Bahawalpur, Zara Fatima secured 3rd position among female candidates in the Humanities Group, scoring 1,088 out of 1,200 marks. Her remarkable result marked a defining milestone—not only for Zara but also for her mother, teachers, school and wider community. It demonstrated what becomes possible when a talented student receives the opportunity, encouragement and sustained support needed to fulfil her potential. At the BISE Bahawalpur recognition ceremony held on 6 August 2026, Zara attended alongside her mother and uncle, accompanied by Ms. Farhana Saeed, Principal of HDF Girls High School, Basti Khando, and the HDF Regional Program Manager. In recognition of her outstanding performance, Zara received a Bronze Medal, a Certificate of Achievement and a cash prize of PKR 5,000. The school principal also received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the school’s contribution to students’ academic success. The ceremony celebrated more than an examination result. It recognized years of determination, a mother’s sacrifices, the dedication of teachers and the value of ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn and succeed. A Mother’s Determination, A Daughter’s Achievement Behind Zara’s success stands a mother who remained committed to her children’s education through years of uncertainty and financial hardship. Her determination to honour her late husband’s wish helped keep Zara’s educational aspirations alive. For Zara’s family, the recognition ceremony was a proud and meaningful moment—a celebration of the perseverance that had carried her from a community school to a position among the leading female candidates in her examination board. Her achievement is a reminder that a child’s circumstances need not define her future when family determination, educational opportunity and sustained support come together. A Dream Beyond the Classroom Zara’s ambitions extend well beyond her matriculation success. She hopes to become an Islamic scholar and serve society through knowledge, faith and dedication. Her aspiration reflects a young woman who continues to look ahead with hope and purpose. Having already overcome significant challenges in her educational journey, Zara now has an achievement that can inspire her to pursue the next chapter with confidence. As she reflects on her journey, one message captures the spirit of her progress: “Hard work, passion, and dedication give a person the opportunity to progress.” The HDF Approach: Investing in Potential, Transforming Futures Zara Fatima’s story illustrates why sustained investment in education matters, particularly for children from vulnerable backgrounds. Enrolment alone is not enough; students need a pathway that enables them to continue learning as their circumstances and educational needs evolve. Through the HDF Non-Formal Community School, Zara gained an accessible entry point into education. HDF Girls High School provided continuity into formal schooling, while fee concessions, a full secondary-level fee waiver, support through the Orphan Project and the Dr. Abdus Salam Scholarship helped reduce barriers to her progress. Co-curricular activities further enriched her school experience and encouraged her personal development. Together, these opportunities helped create an environment in which Zara’s own talent, determination and hard work could flourish. For HDF and its supporters, her achievement reinforces the importance of providing children with consistent educational opportunities and the support they need to reach their potential. A school, a scholarship, a committed teacher or timely financial assistance may appear to be a single intervention, but together they can help transform the future of a child and inspire an entire community. From a non-formal community classroom to 3rd position in BISE Bahawalpur, Zara Fatima’s journey embodies the power of education to turn adversity into achievement and hope into opportunity. HDF congratulates Zara Fatima, her mother and family, her teachers, and the Rahim Yar Khan team on this outstanding accomplishment. May Zara’s journey inspire many more girls to continue their education, believe in their abilities and pursue their dreams with courage and determination.
