A landmark Partnership of Human Development Foundation and Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Sindh
Human Development Foundation (HDF) and Public Health Engineering Department, Govt. of Sindh, have signed a landmark partnership. Under which, HDF will adopt 100 government installed Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plants in Tharparkar and will repair, operate and maintain all these non-functional RO Plants to provide clean drinking water to the people of Tharparkar, Sindh with generous support from Pakistani diaspora in USA .
HDF represented by the CEO Mr. Suhail Awan, and the Department of Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Sindh, represented by the Secretary & Additional Secretary with the team including Technical Director, Chief Engineer Operation, Executive Engineer, Superintendent Engineer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at PC Hotel Karachi, Sindh. The event was graced by Mr.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Provincial Minister of Sindh for Local Government, Forest and Religious Affairs. The Ceremony had 20+ media personnel in attendance & media coverage in over 10 news outlets.
This partnership is an innovative approach towards achieving inclusive development rather than creating new structures HDF will adopt non-functional government installed RO plants and make clean drinking water accessible by repairing and maintaining these plants, using HDF’s successful engagement approach with partner communities. By operationalizing all these 100 RO Plants, almost 1 million Gallon/Day clean drinking water will be available to around 300,000 people of Tharparkar.
Besides, Operation and Maintenance of Government Installed RO plants, HDF has also planned several interventions under its annual development plan for Tharparkar in the areas of Bio-Saline Agriculture, Livelihood, Food security, Education, and Youth Entrepreneurships.
HDF intends to expand the scale and scope of these interventions in partnership with Government of Sindh,District Government Tharparkar, and Thar foundation. These partnerships and our shared vision for Tharparkar community, will propel us to work towards improving quality of life in Tharparkar.
